First annual report meeting on the Veterinary Project implementation

Agronomes et Vétérinaires Sans Frontières (AVSF) and the United Cooperative of the Private Veterinary Clinics of Mongolia (UCPVCM) held the 1st Annual Report Meeting on the Veterinary Project implementation results on January 28 and 29, 2016. The Meeting gave details of the project implementation starting from February 4 and till November 24, 2015. During the period the Veterinary intervention unit with one expatriate and one Mongolian veterinarian worked on site in Zuunbayan bag and Ulaanbadrakh sum. The Unit received nearly 500 calls and examined more than 800 animals. To make public the results of the animal health monitoring a monthly information leaflet is available to all interested local stakeholders at sum and bag level.

The Report Meeting was joined by the Chairman of the Development Policy Division of the Aimag’s Governor’s Office, Director of the Department of the Industry and Agriculture, Director of the Veterinary and Sanitary Laboratory, Governors of some sums and bags and the representatives of the local herders of Zuunbayan bag and Ulaanbadrakh sum. All guests took an active and constructive participation.  

Mr.B.Buyankhishig, officer of Local Affairs of AREVA Mongol LLC said that “We are happy to assist the Veterinary Project Report Meeting. Also, we are especially satisfied to see the Veterinary intervention unit doing a lot to support local herders”.

For reminder: the Veterinary Project supporting herders to improve their livestock health was launched in November 2014. This two year project is fully financed by AREVA Mongol LLC. The project aims at understanding and controlling animal health issues in the area where AREVA Mongol operates.
