Delegation from Dornogovi authorities in France

On January 13 and 14, 2015, AREVA Bessines (France) site hosted a delegation of fifteen Mongolian officials, which included Mr.G.Ganbaatar - Head of the Representative Assembly of the citizens of the province of Dornogovi - and three Mongolian TV and radio journalists.

The purpose of this visit was to introduce delegates to the post-mining activities of AREVA and show them a typical beef cattle farming operation in the region from which were introduced some proud examples of the Limousin breed, recently introduced in Mongolia.

The delegation exchanged with the Municipality and regional councilor of Bessines about the mining and the post-mining activities repercussions (economical, employment, environmental etc.).

They went also out on the field to visit two remediated former uranium mining sites. Then they experienced the world of the mine through archive film footage bringing to life the history of uranium mining in France.

The next day, the group enjoyed a tour of the geosciences center, focusing on the mining records and documentation of 60 years, and on the workshop (“litholamellage”) and the many rock samples collected worldwide and on AREVA’s sites, as some from Mongolia.
